Usually, when you read about car donation you always get the perspectives of the donor and the receiving charity. Have you ever thought about seeing the donation process through the car’s point of view? Probably not. Let’s face it, no one wants to watch a documentary on a vehicle being transported from beginning to end . If your car isn’t a classic only to be driven on the weekends or some Italian super car then it probably shouldn’t be on display in your driveway . So what’s the point in learning about the donation process from a car’s perspective? It may not be as mundane as you think. There are many paths that a donated car can follow.
As the car sits in the donors driveway awaiting to be picked up, within 24 hours a tow truck comes and takes it away to the targeted charity (i.e. Goodwill Industries, American Red Cross). The towing of the vehicle doesn’t cost the donor a thing . From here, there are many places a car may end up after it is received by the charity. After a thorough inspection by the receiving charity… The car could end up at someone’s house to provide much needed transportation, it’s parts may be sold to replace missing pieces on another car or it may be sold at an auction to help fund a job placement program.
Which path will your car take? It’s actually not hard to tell if you look at the condition of your vehicle . If it’s an old clunker then chances are it will be taken apart and it’s pieces will be sold separately. If it’s in good running condition then it will likely either be donated to a family in need of transportation or sold at an auction. Regardless of what path awaits your vehicle, you can rest assured knowing that your car donation will indeed benefit someone in need.
