Pricegrabber’s Automotive division has just released what they say are their shoppers’ top 20 list of most popular new vehicles. I am quite surprised that the Honda Civic beat out the Toyota Camry; but maybe not because of the recent gas prices. Everyone apparently wants a Honda Civic now, trading in their gas guzzling SUVs for a smaller car that sips rather than gulps gas. Go figure–just when I bought a larger 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, now everyone wants quite the opposite. Apparently the rankings are based on the frequency of the search and shoppers’ desire to purchase a new vehicle. This new list of the most popular vechicles shows that the imports continue to reign.
PriceGrabber.com, an Experian company, announced today that vehicles from foreign manufacturers dominated the premier edition of the Shoppers’ Top 20 List of most often researched vehicles on PriceGrabber.com. Additionally, PriceGrabber.com’s array of both economy and luxury vehicles displayed the wide range of interests demonstrated by the PriceGrabber.com auto shopping community.
In compiling the Shoppers’ Top 20 List, PriceGrabber.com gave consideration to several factors in which shoppers expressed an interest in each vehicle. These variables included the following: whether or not a consumer checked the vehicle’s specifications during the shopping process, the total number of page views PriceGrabber.com received for each vehicle’s information pages, and whether or not a consumer completed a PriceGrabber.com vehicle pricing request, which is an indication that the consumer is ready to purchase a vehicle.
“With our innovative approach to allowing shoppers to get competitive prices on vehicles, PriceGrabber.com users are able to shop and gather the information to drive their buying decisions more confidently than ever,” said Darren Davis, business director for PriceGrabber Autos. “In addition, our users are actively researching new-to-market vehicles like the Toyota Yaris and Hummer H3.”
Unlike most of today’s automotive information Web sites and online buying services, PriceGrabber Autos allows consumers to solicit price quotes from local dealerships anonymously, sending only their contact information to the dealership, which then provides them with the lowest price quote on their desired vehicle. This puts consumers in control of their car shopping process and allows them to be more definitive about the vehicle they are shopping for without fear of unwanted solicitations or spam from a multitude of dealerships.
