Help! I need to install a magnetic sign!

Below is a brief tutorial on how to apply a new magnetic sign to your vehicle. Hope you find it useful.

Surface Preparation:

Before we begin ensure the backside of the sign and the vehicles surface have been cleaned properly and WAXED! (Allow wax to cure completely before applying magnet.)

Application:

Gently allow one side of the magnetic sign make contact in the desired position. Then let the force do the work as it positions the sign in place from starting edge to opposite edge. If the sign is out of position, peel it off and repeat. Make sure the sign is smoothly against with no trapped air underneath. Also while the vehicles tempature doesn’t matter, try to keep keep the sign in 50 degree weather or higher to ensure longevity of your sign, for example in the winter months.

Some surfaces require special attention immediately after application. Surfaces such as wood grain paneling and heavy metallic finishes should be checked on a weekly basis for the first 90 days. A healthy layer of wax should be kept on both the contact point and on the sign at all times IF ANY DISCOLORATION OR HAZING IS DETECTED, DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY.

Auto Magnets will not stick to non-metallic vehicle bodies or components.

If your vehicle has been recently painted, it is recommended that you wait 90 days for the paint to cure.

Maintenance:

Once a week its a good idea to remove the sign and dry both the sign and the vehicle to keep moisture build up from happening which could lead to rusting. To wash the back of the sign, use warm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent. Remove sign after a snowfall or rain, wipe dry and reapply. Remove signs before pressure washing. This is especially important during winter since most de icing chemicals are harmful to paints.

Note:  Vehicle magnets left on a vehicle over extended periods of time may become difficult to remove.  Also, magnets left in direct sunlight on a regular basis, if not removed & cleaned regularly, may become bonded to the paint surface.

Storage:

Signs can be stored flat or wound on a minimum of a 3” diameter core print side out. if  stored flat, do not place heavy objects on sign face. Do not store face to face unless a slip sheet is used. Since Automag is permanently magnetic, you need not protect against magnetic destruction
